I find it annoying that Dropbox provides downloads for previous versions, but if you install one, it will automatically update itself to a version not supported on your system and then break. I couldn't find a way to disable auto update. It did start syncing files, but then it automatically downloads and installs the latest version of Dropbox, and then just quits doing anything. But in case it helps anyone else, I wanted people to know that as of 8/5/16, I have OS 10.6.7 syncing with Dropbox via the desktop client using version 3.0.2.īad news everyone. I wish I knew what the most recent version is that will work with 10.6.7 without having to find out by trial and error. So it is not accurate that 10.6.8 or higher is an absolute requirement for the Dropbox desktop application, despite what it says at the link Mark provided. To download the oldest available version - 3.0.2 - and it launched and is currently syncing my files. I deleted the version I had, and used the Dropbox page here: Dropbox was still syncing on it for me as of June 20, 2016, but now the application wouldn't launch - I don't know if I accidentally let it install an update, or what. I have a machine that is stuck on 10.6.7 for various reasons, it can not go to 10.6.8. I have lots of updated machines, but for a current project I need the 10.6.3 to be able to use the Dropbox desktop application. I would appreciate if someone would help me out and not offer snark. If it is the case that Dropbox is only offering the application for 10.6.8 users (and not for 10.6.3 to 10.6.7), then can someone clarify if that's the case? As such, can someone from Dropbox advise why the applications are not working for me? I am aware that Dropbox ended support for Tiger and Leopard, but 10.6.3 is not Tiger or Leopard. I checked out to download an older version of the app but none of them worked on my machine. So please don't respond if that is your suggestion. There are no plans (or ability) to upgrade it to 10.6.8 or anything else. I am running a second machine that has Mac OS 10.6.3 Snow Leopard and I need a desktop application for that machine. First of all, I am a Terabyte customer, and one of the earliest adapters of Dropbox among the very tech savvy people I know, so I would appreciate a little brand loyalty karma.
